World Chinese Entrepreneurs Scholarship

Since 2007, over $190,000 was raised directly and indirectly and awarded to + students across Canada!

(A) Targeted Candidates - Outstanding young achievers who need financial help and deserve further encouragement (open to all students including students from around the world and high school graduates attending post secondary institutes):
1) High school students (Grades 8-12)
2) Post-secondary institution students


(B) Types of Awards:
1) Academic and Community Service and Leadership Award (@ $1,000) – Available to applicants who have completed grade 12 of high school and The applicant must also be currently enrolled in a post secondary institution.
2) Special Talents Award (@ $1,000 and up ) – Available to applicants with outstanding talents in any field currently attending grades 8 to 4th year post secondary. (Exceptional lower grade high achievers may also be considered.)
3) Entrepreneurial Spirit Award (@ $1,000 and up ) – available to applicants who have completed Grade 12 of high school or first, second or third year of post-secondary education, who are currently students of a post-secondary institution and who demonstrate sense of entrepreneurial spirit


(C) Key Dates:
September 2010 – Development & Promotion of scholarships
October 13, 2010– Official Announcement of 2010 scholarship program; begin to accept Applications
January 21, 2011  - Application deadline
January 22, 2011  – Early February 2011 – Screening period
To be determined due to Chinese New Year schedule – Announcement of winners
To be determined due to Chinese New Year schedule – Awards presentation


(D) Components of Application – Academic and Community Service and Leadership Award:
1) Application form
2) Copy of unofficial transcripts for previous 2 academic years. Please provide either a scanned copy of your transcripts/final report cards or type it out and list all your courses and grades for the two years. (NOTE: if you are selected, we will require you to mail us your official transcripts/ proof to verify your grades.)
3) Supporting letters of reference (must have at least one academic reference and one community service reference; maximum of three reference letters)
4) Most updated resume



(E) Components of Application – Special Talents Award:

1) Application form
2) Copy of unofficial transcripts for previous 2 academic years. Please provide either a scanned copy of your transcripts/final report cards or type out and list all your courses and grades. (NOTE: if you are selected, we will require official transcripts/ proof to verify your grades.)
3) Supporting letters of reference (must have at two references relating to your special talent, and one academic reference.)
4) Most updated resume



(F) Components of Application – Entrepreneurial Spirit Award:

1) Application form
2) Copy of unofficial transcripts for previous 2 academic years. Please provide either a scanned copy of your transcripts/final report cards or type out and list all your courses and grades. (NOTE: if you are selected, we will require official transcripts/ proof to verify your grades.)
3) Supporting letters of reference (must have at least one academic reference and one community service reference; maximum of three reference letters)
4) Most updated resume


(G) Scholarship Award Amounts:
1) Academic and Community Service and Leadership Award - $1,000
2) Special Talents Award – from $1,000 and up
3) Entrepreneurial Spirit Award – from $ 1,000 and up

If you are selected for any of these awards, we will require a hard copy of proof of registration for courses in a post-secondary institution and a signed copy of the application form as well.  (If you are still in high school, the proof of registration is not necessary) Please also mail us a completed application to:

(H) Other notes:

(1) All applicants apply to The 4th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention Canada Founding & Development Society (WCEC).
(2) WCEC and donor will present cheque(s) to recipient(s) at awards presentation
(3) Follow all instructions in the Scholarship Application Form
